Hey Todd! The show last Saturday night in Sboro was a really great one, and I had a great time as usual hearing the Pups play. Would have loved to had more room to dance but hopefully that won't be a problem next time --- it's hard to stay seated when ya'll are playing! Guess those folks in The Boro just didn't know  what a great band you are and that you had such a large "following". Take care and guess we'll see soon in Athens. GO DOGS!!!

Hey, Todd,

Yes we had a wonderful time!  You guys were so great and so interactive with the crowd -- they loved it.  Thanks for helping make Stephanie and John's reception such a special time.

Stephanie's email is scbell@blueridge.net.  They are in Cabo San Lucas now for their honeymoon.  I'm not sure if she will change her name right away or what.  It's such a pain!

Yes, yes stay in touch!

Thanks again,  Mona

10/23/2006

You guys were incredible!!  Thank you so much for being so perfect for Stephanie, John and their rowdy friends.  They would have been happy for you to play all night long but the long arm of the law entered the picture.  (I understand about noise ordinance, etc. but it’s hard to convince a bunch of young people drinking and partying that quit means QUIT!)  But the police were reasonable and just doing their jobs.  I guess they’re used to it!!

Stephanie told me I handled things quite “gracefully” by dropping the …………Sorry about that but I wasn’t sure how else to get their attention.  I guess when they hear the old broad start yelling profanities, they know they better listen.  I’m usually a little more tactful but I just didn’t want anyone to get arrested or in trouble.

I wish I had had more time to talk to you; you are such an cool lady!  I hope they took good care of you at the Lake Lure Inn.  The music was just wonderful.  I know you are going to go far!!!!  We’re just honored and feel privileged that you could  celebrate the happy event of John and Stephanie’s marriage with us.  They’re already talking about anniversary parties.  We’ll be in touch!!!!!  Wouldn’t that be fun?

Love ya!   Mona

Hey, Todd, it's been a LONG time since I've used your songs but today I was editing a show I'd filmed yesterday at Road ATL and couldn't come up with anything. Thank you!  Those people that were not familiar with your band were TOTALLY impressed.  Dad being one of them.

Brad wanted a tee shirt from the Hushpuppies and so I went on line this morning.   I saw two pictures on your site, then a different one on anther site.  You can't zoom in on them on the web.  Do you have any close-up shots so we can decide which one(s) to order.

Dana was hilarious...as always.  Please tell her that I said hello and that I am so glad she came.

Thanks again for a fabulous time.  Ya'll were GREAT and we had a blast!

Thanks 'ol buddy 'ol pal! I listened to it all the way

back to Aiken and I've already ripped it onto my iPod for easy access. The

tunes sound outstanding, I can really sense the Charlie Robison (I think hes

a helleva song writer/storyteller as well) influence in the song writing on

several of the tracks. I think Lovelight is gonna be killer. I can't wait to

hear the full version... I do hope its gonna be longer than the one minute

taste on the disc.

Keep living the dream and if your not living it MAKE it happen!

Peace!

Mary and I had a great time at the Park Bench.   You were great --  I want to see/hear you again.  When you are on stage – you are certainly a different person – not the reticent/deep thinking/book reading/ quiet guy/socks but no shoes person.  And you are a mortgage Broker – Jane still can’t believe that you are the same person as when you she talks to you on the phone during the business day.

Thanks for bringing our Grand daughter Christine into the scene – even though she could into attend – talking to her on the cell phone and then dedicating a song to her was fantastic.

Amazed at the number of people who were there to listen to you – and they were polite-friendly, could not ask for any more of my kind of people – I knew probably 12-18 of them from other get togethers.

Hope to be able to see you again – maybe in Athens.

We are having out kickoff meeting tonight for this year's Washpot Cookout.  The date for this year is May 20 - we're hoping you guys will be able to be with us for the street dance !  I know Brooke Harper has been talking to ya about this.  Just think - you were at our very first festival - you will not believe how it has grown !   We want to show you guys off again!   Do you have the date open ?  You should put the Washpot Festival (back in 1999) on your Website.  Sounds like ya'll are doing great - we're real proud of you and the fact that you were our FIRST entertainment !  We'll be in touch about May 20.

Todd,

Finally got some time to hear Songs From The Big House.  Very well done!  I really like what you're doing.  I think the best place for the music

is Americana/AAA stations.  That covers everyone

from Delbert McClinton to Alison Krause.

Listened to the new stuff this morning....like

several of the cuts and think they will work

for Americana/AAA stations.  Good cover

of Cash on Folsom!  The music has a good feel

to it.

Hi William,

Listened to your cd on the website...great stuff! I will send a separate email with the info on our promotions. I would love to promote this for radio. Look over the info and then shoot me an email, and let's discuss!

some first impressions:

Single "Lovelight" by the Hushpuppies. Neo southern influenced boogy rock that brings to mind the likes of the Cult, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Segar and the Kings of Leon.

thanks!

Finally. I get to hear the PUps at Athfest. I almost shed a tear.

Almost every year a couple acts make it. I don't think it's because of Athfest but Athfest just seems to get a lot of bands that are on the cusp of breaking out.

It's a small, small world. What's up Todd...what's up Troy? FYI: Troy, I think these guys are great...and that's not just because Todd's my cousin (somewhere along the bloodline).

Hope you both are doing great. I'm here in "Hip Hop" land...but doing marvelous. Take care

BTW, the tracks sound great.  Tell Matt he sounds more like the Allman Bros., which is awesome.  Here's my take:

That Ain't Country - great feel, rocks out.  Definitely will get the crowd going. Tupelo - good southern rock vibe.

Lovelight - good sing along.. Nice use of cowbell

Folsom Prison - timely, shows the roots.  I would ditch the tremelo work on the opening. Blue Lake - Best song on the disk, even though it is a ballad.  If people don't cry when they hear it, they have no soul. County line - Another solid southern fried song.  Matt's guitar work - very nice. Pure Despair - Great bar sing along.  It will be requested for a long time to come. A-town - 'Nuff Said

So is the album going to be called Southern Fried Funk?

When is AthFest?

With energetic renditions of familiar classics mixed with insightful, toe-tapping originals from their rock/roll/Southern/low-country roots, they put on a great show! On their last visit to the Buckhead Saloon, they produced a live DVD. No telling what could happen this time. The Hushpuppies really engage the audience (or is it vice versa?). As the evening waxes, the boundary between stage and audience melds into a mosh of music, people, drinks, and rhythmic, interpretative dance. Decidedly favoring the “interpretive”, a wandering bachelorette party may be seen gravitating to the stage like sorties of moths drawn to a sonic flame. Spontaneity like this only adds to the entertainment in a Hushpuppies show. It’s a par-teh de jour.
